TOUR DETAILS 

Day 1: TANA

Arriving at Ivato international airport, clear customs and meet Ortour Tour Guide; transfer to Grand Mellis hotel (midrange) or at Louvre hotel (top) for overnight.

Day 2: TANA - ANTSIRABE

After breakfast, morning departure and join the national route 7 heading toward the south, through the high plateau’s landscape: mountainous and has beautiful rice field scenery.

First stop at Ambatolampy’s well known, small but family owned cooking pot factory, where the locals unceasingly eager to let you know how amazing though traditional pots are made.

Back in the car, continue driving till reaching Antsirabe. While arriving, visit the surrounding getting to know the city. Visits include: Lake Andraikiba, where various legend interpretations, extra activities such as horse riding, canoeing, etc. Also, visit at the miniature shop producing different kinds of products made from used materials, and at the workshop of semi and precious stones.

Day 3: ANTSIRABE - AMBOSITRA - RANOMAFANA

Two hours drive to the famous woodcarving centre of Madagascar. Spend few hours visiting the art shops of Malagasy crafts. Enjoy a few minutes of fun watching the locals carving and whittling. After lunch, continue driving toward Ranomafana; the duration might take the whole afternoon to get there. Late afternoon arrival at Ranomafana rainforest. Take a close view at the Namorona awesome waterfall gushing out of the huge rock making it splendid image for screen wallpapers. In the park, there are 20 species of mammals, including 12 species of lemurs. Overnight at Cristo Hotel (midrange) or hotel Setam Lodge (top).

Day 4: RANOMAFANA - AMBALAVAO

Morning walk into the forest in hope to spot the famous Golden Bamboo lemur, the Great Bamboo lemur and many different species of birds such as Pitta-like Ground roller, Velvet Asity, Frances Sparrow-hawk, Madagascar Buzzard, etc. After lunch, leave Ranomafana and drive to Ambalavao, a city best known for its charming colonial architected houses belonging to the Betsileo tribe and the "Antemoro Paper" products formerly brought the Arabs aimed at producing papers recording Koran verses. Now, with different patterns and methods as well as aim, fresh flowers are then applied to give it a unique form, with which the locals produce purse, any kinds of frames from it. Ambalavao offers you not only those products but also a visit at the zebu market where the local people make a traditional bargaining deal.

So, all visits at Ambalavao would be on the following day.

Day 5: AMBALAVAO – ISALO

Morning visit at Anja Park and continue to Ranohira, it takes almost the day leaving the highlands driving to the big south gate through its savannah grassland. En route, various stops at the Bara tribe area where the Horombe Plateau offers excellent southern scenery reminding you some places out of dream. Along this well paved road, birds might surprise you, including the rare Mcar Reunion Harrier. Late afternoon arrival at Ranohira, the village of Bara tribe. Overnight at Orchidée (midrange) or at Jardin du Roy/ Satrana Lodge (top)

Day 6: ISALO

Whole day visit in the park accompanied by a local guide. Walk at Namaza trail to spot the ring-tailed lemurs, Verreaux’ Sifaka, and red-fronted brown lemur before relaxing at the natural swimming pool.

Day 7: ISALO - TULÉAR

Ranohira - Tuléar: 250 km. Long drive toward the south west capital of the Vezo fishing people. On your way, you will see a few fantastic baobabs that can be used as water reservoirs for the locals. Overnight at Palétuvier hotel.
